In 1929, a golf course was built in Kalaheo and has since been developed into one of the nicest private courses on the island, the Kukulolono Park and Golf Course. With 3,000 residents situated in the south shore of Kauai, Kalaheo was once a dead surfing town with a few local shops and rundown houses. However, Kalaheo has been reconstructed, refurbished, and expanded to provide an enjoyable experience for residents and visitors. As a quaint little town, it includes a limited number of hotels and accommodations, making Kalaheo the perfect place for residents looking to escape the huge masses of tourists inundating the island.
